Information on Dual

Certification and a M.ED

Many of the students who will be served by participants in the VIP Program are widely scattered over vast rural areas. For this reason, we encourage our participants to become certified in both TVI and O&M. However, the VIP grant will only pay for ONE certification . The extra classes needed for dual certification or for a master's degree must be paid for by the individual (other grants may be available to assist you in your pursuit of a dual certification - contact the program for assistance). The two programs share an extensive common core of classes, and then additional classes are added for each program.

It is important to remember that persons who want to obtain a dual certification or master's MUST have a teaching certificate before being admitted to the program.

The chart below lists the classes which are required for each program. For specific contents on the classes listed, check the following links. Some of the courses required for your certification (through TEA, your state, or ACVREP) may not apply toward your MEd. degree plan.
