All Week! SFA students are encouraged to apply to be the SFA Student Regent for the 2011-2012 school year. Applications are available in the Dean of Student Affairs Office located on the third floor of the Baker Pattillo Student Center or in the Involvement Center located on the first floor of the student center. Applications are due, in person, by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19. Any questions can be forwarded to Michael Preston, director of student affairs, at (936) 468-1018 or e-mail at mpreston@sfasu.edu.

The SFA Madrigal Singers will present a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus. Under the direction of Dr. Tim King, the highly select 16-voice ensemble will sing songs from musical periods ranging from the Renaissance to present day. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2.50 for faculty/staff and $2 for students.

11th Annual Turkey Chase 5K Run/Walk
Registration 8 a.m. | Race begins 8:30 a.m. | HPE Complex | $25 registration

The Alliance is holding its 11th Annual Turkey Chase 5k Run/Walk. Awards for first through third place for men and women divisions ages 16 to 25 and ages 26 and up. T-shirts for all participants along with door prizes. Snack and beverages will be provided. Registration cost is $25, and the race will begin and end in front of the HPE Complex on Raguet Street.

   
 

SFA Cheerleading Fall Recruit Weekend

This is for anyone interested in collegiate cheerleading to experience what the SFA Cheerleading Program has to offer. Check-in will begin at 8:45 a.m. and practice sessions will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, and from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 14. Both sessions will be held in the HPE Complex.   SFA Orchestra of the Pines presents “Romantic Affairs”
7:30 p.m. | Cole Concert Hall

This is a new date for the concert that was originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19. A highlight of the program will be SFA faculty bassoonist Susan Nelson performing Carl Maria von Weber’s “Concerto for bassoon and orchestra.” The orchestra will also perform works by Igor Stravinsky and Gabriel Fauré. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7.50 for faculty/staff and $5 for students.
