  SFA Brass Quintet
7:30 p.m. | Cole Concert Hall

The SFA Brass Quintet, composed of four faculty members and a graduate student, will present music in a variety of styles during its concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in Cole Concert Hall. The most substantial work on the program will be the “Quintet No. 1, Opus 5” by Victor Ewald, who has long been recognized as the first composer to write for a brass quintet. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2.50 for faculty/staff and $2 for students.

  SFA Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band's "Percussion in the Pines"

The SFA Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band will present a joint festive holiday concert, "Percussion in the Pines," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Cole Concert Hall. The program will feature a great collection of carols and contemporary holiday tunes with a percussive twist. Audience members are encouraged to participate in the Percussion Department's toy drive by bringing a new toy to the concert. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2.50 for faculty/staff and $2 for students.

Join us for a fabulous evening of fierce style, fashion and art as we debut a new issue of RISQ magazine. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $15 for VIP. All proceeds go to support publication. Tickets can be purchased by calling (719) 502-7232 or at the Baker Pattillo Student Center Ticket Office from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, and Tuesday, Dec. 7. Jason Dormady will present "Mexico's Light of the World: Religion and Revolutionary Thought" as part of the Latin American Studies Faculty Speaker's Series. Ever wonder what that giant white "temple" is in Houston on Highway 59? What is that church that was attacked in Phoenix for building a "mosque-like" dome? Come find out about the origins of Mexico's largest Protestant church as well as what role it plays in U.S. religion.

  "Hooked on Art" Closing Reception
6 p.m. | The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House

Both holiday shoppers and art collectors will want to attend the closing reception for "Hooked on Art" that begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches. Attendees may place last-minute silent auction bids on or purchase raffle tickets for the hand-crafted and decorated Christmas ornaments created by local artists. All proceeds benefit the SFA art scholarship fund.

  G.F. Handel's "Messiah"
7:30 p.m. | W.M. Turner Auditorium

The SFA combined choirs and orchestra, along with the Nacogdoches Community Chorus will present G.F. Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. The always-popular event will feature student soloists and close with an audience Christmas carol sing-along. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for faculty/staff, students and youth.
