Jared Graham, SFA graduate student, was awarded first place at the Regional Texas American College of Sports Medicine Conference for "Outstanding Master's Research Presentation" for his recent hydration research performed in the Exercise Physiology Lab. His submission was one of 20 submissions from universities throughout the state, including TCU, UT and Texas A&M.
Congratulations to Dr. Louise Stoehr, Modern Languages, who has been recognized by the American Association of Teachers of German and awarded a two-week seminar in Berlin, Germany (June 27 - July 10) to participate in the Neuer Blick, eue Stimmen: Interkulturelles Leben und Wirken. Through many activities, ranging from experiencing first-hand Berlin’s international cuisine to conversations with political and social activists, participants will gather new materials and gain new insights into what it means to live in a society that is becoming more and more diverse. Participants also will focus on articulating new classroom goals and strategies, and on developing new classroom units and teaching models that integrate new perspectives gained during the seminar.
Audition for commercials, which are being created for the American Advertising Federation competition, between 11 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the Boynton Building, Room 209. Students from SFA's Art, Communication and Marketing departments will work with your schedule to film the clever, creative commercials they have written. Participants will receive a DVD of the commercial after the competition!

Looking for a great place this spring to teach your child to swim? Campus Recreation is offering swim lessons starting Saturday, March 20. They will be held on Saturdays for six weeks, between 9 a.m. and noon. There will be no classes on Saturday, April 3. Each class will last 40 minutes, and sessions will be based on your child's swimming ability. The fee for lessons is $35 per child and includes one parent/guardian and one child. Please register at the Campus Recreation Administrative Office by Friday, March 19. Participant space is limited. The deadline to apply for May graduation is Monday, March 22. Any student planning to graduate in May MUST apply for graduation. Handpicked from around the world by the artistic staff of American Ballet Theatre, the classical company of 12 dancers (ages 16-20) will present a varied program in three acts that includes "Interplay," excerpts from "Swan Lake" and "Le Corsaire, and new works created specifically for ABT II.
