What stands out about your SFA experience this year? The office of Student Affairs wants to help you reflect on your time at SFA with the 2010 Week of Reflection. The week will kick off with a day of wellness. Campus Recreation will have a free preview day for all faculty and staff on Monday, April 26. There will be health and wellness educational information in the Recreation Center lobby and jogging routes throughout the facility. The Recreation Center will also have reflection questions on TVs and all cardio equipment. Former heavyweight champion boxer and iconic businessman George Foreman will be the inaugural speaker in a new lecture series hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University's College of Liberal and Applied Arts. "A Conversation with George Foreman: Reflections on My America" is the first event in the new speaker series named for longtime SFA history professor Dr. Archie McDonald. The Office of Student Affairs offers Service Learning Grants each semester to faculty and staff who are interested in implementing a service learning element to their class. Grants are limited to $500 or less, and approximately five to seven are awarded each semester, depending on available funding. Applications for fall 2010 grants are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 30, and notifications will be made one week later. SFA Bands’ Concert in the Park at 2 p.m. in the Free Speech Area. The concert will feature the SFA Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and University Band. Hamburger plates will be available for $5 beginning at 1 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Room 121 of the Wright Music Building. Admission is free.

TEXAS NATIONAL 2010 and Judy Pfaff: Drawings and Prints now display at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. Created by the SFA School of Art, "Texas National" is celebrating its 16th year on the national scene. The competition is open to all artists living and working in the United States. This year, juror Judy Pfaff chose 191 pieces by 162 artists. Both shows run through Saturday, May 22. Consumed: Fast Food in the US now on display at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. From the eating contests to the mascots designed to appeal to young children, Susana Raab’s 20 photographs capture the influence of the fast food franchise super powers and the saturation of their marketing strategies on everyday American life. Dr. Hans Williams, professor of forestry and associate dean of the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University, has been named Regents Professor for the 2010-11 academic year.
