SFA iPhone application makes debut
Students and faculty members at Stephen F. Austin State University who own iPhones will now have access to a myriad of the university's resources in the palm of their hands.
The university's iPhone application, created by Laterrious Starks, former Student Government Association vice president and Mister SFA, and Steen Library web design specialist Michael Gillen, became available in the iTunes store on Wednesday.
Last November, Gillen and Starks attended a conference in Detroit as part of the American Democracy project at SFA, where they came up with the idea for a collective university iPhone app. More

Breast cancer awareness campus competition
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter at Stephen F. Austin State University wants YOUR OFFICE to THINK PINK during the month of October!
Beginning Monday, Oct. 4, decorate your office with breast cancer-related items and your office could win a lunch for 10 people from Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers — yum! The winning office will be announced at the football game vs. Central Arkansas. Here are the NEW criteria for judging:
Your decor must be NO LARGER than 8'x8' and no smaller than 5'x5'. We suggest a door or large window. If you have a bulletin board, that works well, too. This means no floors, ceilings or desks to decorate just the flat space.
One to 10 points will be awarded in each category, which includes creativity, use of breast cancer facts and information, visibility of display to the general public and honoring survivorship. There are a total of 50 points possible for your display.
One point will be added to your total score for every pink Yoplait lid used in your display. We will come back during the following week after judging to get your lids and add them to our collection!
All participating offices will receive a certificate of recognition, and we'll hand out some special "merit" awards. If your office would like to participate, please e-mail Ciara Harrop at Ciara_dancer@swbell.net by Wednesday, Sept. 29. You will receive a confirmation that your office has been entered by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1. Judging will take place beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15.

To say something is "as American as apple pie" doesn't really make a lot of sense when you consider that apple pie originated in France and England.
