Clubs and Student Events

Our students are encouraged to become active in our student clubs (the Psychology Club and Psi Chi) and the events they sponsor.

The SFASU Psychology Club is a relaxed group of people who simply have a common interest in psychology. In the past, we have hosted speakers, gone to the ROPES Challenge Course, hosted several parties, made a float for the homecoming parade, worked for Sweat Equity, and participated in "Make A Difference Day." We also host an annual blood drive and visit various mental health facilities. Check out our Events Calendar to view the upcoming events!

The only requirements to join the Psychology Club (other than your interest in psychology) are to be an SFA student and to pay the dues. Dues are $3 a semester, or $5 a year. Along with your membership, you will receive a discount on club t-shirts, and club events (such as the ROPES course).

The current faculty advisor is Dr. Beth Bontempo (bontempob@sfasu.edu). Flyers are posted in the McKibben Education building and in Psychology classrooms prior to meetings.

Please go to the Psychology Club website for more information.

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society for Psychology. Students must meet membership requirements in order to receive an invitation to join. Potential new members are contacted at the beginning of each fall and spring semester, and flyers are posted announcing meetings. Our branch is very active. We organize research group projects to take to conferences, bring in speakers, organize GRE and graduate school preparation events, participate in service and fund-raising work.

Please go to the Psi Chi website for more information.
