SFA faculty quartet to present French Baroque concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - East Texas Baroque, a quartet comprised of Stephen F. Austin State University music faculty members, will present a concert of French Baroque music at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The ensemble, consisting of Christina Guenther, flute; Jennifer Dalmas, violin; Evgeni Raychev, cello; and Ron Petti, harpsichord; will perform pieces by Joseph Bodin Boismortier, Michel Corette, François Coupuin and Jean Baptiste Loeillet.
All of the musicians received their doctoral degrees at Florida State University, where they studied period instruments and Baroque performance practices.
"Except for the harpsichord, all of our instruments are modern," said Guenther. "But we interpret and perform the music in an informed way with regard to Baroque performance practice."
The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. For tickets or more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
