Mr. Pavlo is a former MCI executive who pled guilty to money laundering and wire fraud in 2001. His story highlights the pressures of working in a large corporate environment and the influences that led to the manipulation of financial records. His purpose is to convey to audiences an understanding of the inner-workings and motivations associated with complex white-collar crimes, with an emphasis on ethical decision-making. He was interviewed by Forbes magazine on his case and the pressures he encountered while working at MCI. The interview resulted in a feature article in Forbes in June of 2002, only a few weeks before MCI/Worldcom disclosed that it had fraudulently manipulated its financial records. |
