Lieutenant governor to learn SFA legislative agenda
Monday
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst will hear an overview of Stephen F. Austin
State UniversityÕs legislative agenda when he meets with SFA President
Tito Guerrero and the presidentÕs leadership team during a visit
to the campus Monday.
The meeting is scheduled 1:30-2:15 p.m. in the Austin Building, Room
307. Administrators will brief Dewhurst on the universityÕs priorities
for the 79th Legislature, which convenes in January 2005.
SFA priorities include tuition revenue bonding authority for an East
Texas Early Childhood Research and Development Center, a Nursing/Allied
Health Building, renovation of the Chemistry Building, and a theater-performance
building that would be dedicated to academic theater functions and
allow expansion of the theater program.
The university also will request increased funding from the Legislature
for enhanced salaries for employees.
