Single event tickets now available at SFA fine
arts box office
When patrons
call the Fine Arts Box Office at Stephen F. Austin State University,
they're likely to speak to Diane Flynn, the new box office manager.
Flynn, who began the job in June, says the relatively slow summer months gave
her a chance to learn the ticketing software and become familiar with the numerous
series offered through the College of Fine Arts.
"My staff and I have been occupied primarily with season tickets to the
nine performances on our University Series," Flynn said. "Those have
sold quite well, but there are still lots of good seats available for single
event tickets which we'll begin processing on Wednesday, Sept. 15."
Marketed as the "Season of Classic Inspiration," the 2004-2005 University
Series includes the following performances:
"Hair," performed by the SFA Departments of Theatre and Music, Oct.
7-9
"A French Connection," a concert by the Orchestra of the Pines, Oct.
17
I Musici de MontrŽal with pianist Anton Kuerti, Oct. 28
"A Christmas Carol," performed by Troupe America, Inc., Dec. 6
"Cinderella," performed by the Minnesota Ballet, Feb. 4
"Harvey," performed by the SFA Department of Theatre, Feb. 22-26
Chanticleer, March 4
SFA Opera Theatre, March 31-April 3
"Two Gentlemen of Verona," performed by The Acting Company, April 4
"I fully expect several of the performances to sell out, "said Flynn. "We're
bringing well-known and respected artists to our campus, and the departmental
events included in the series also promise to be of exceptional quality.
ÒPlus, most of the productions are suitable for the entire family, and the ticket
prices are quite reasonable, especially when compared to similar events in the
Dallas or Houston areas,Ó Flynn added.
ÒNow that the school year is underway and people are settling into a normal routine,
theyÕll begin to schedule their free time. WeÕll definitely keep busy around
here,Ó she said.
Flynn and her staff also handle ticket sales for the Department of Theatre's
Mainstage Series, the Department of Music's Concert Series and Orchestra Series,
and the College of Fine ArtsÕ Children's Performing Arts Series.
The Mainstage Series includes four plays, two of which are on the University
Series. The other dramas to be presented are "Six Characters in Search of
an Author," Nov. 16-20, and "The Member of the Wedding," April
26-30. Tickets to the Mainstage productions range from $5 to $15 each.
The Concert Series includes more than 20 concerts by student ensembles and faculty
members. Tickets for each event are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for
students.
ÒSubstantial savings are available through season tickets for the Concert Series,Ó
said Flynn. ÒAdult tickets are $50, seniors $40 and students $25.Ó
The Orchestra Series includes three concerts by the Orchestra of the Pines, the
first of which is on the University Series. The other two concerts are on Feb.
19 and April 9. Single ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and
$5 for students.
The Children's Performing Arts Series includes five productions offered during
the school day:

"Little Red's Most Unusual Day," performed by the Fort Worth Children's
Opera, Nov. 16
Excerpts from "Cinderella," performed by the Minnesota Ballet, Feb.

"Junie B. Jones," performed by Theatreworks USA, March 3
"From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," performed by

are $24 each.
A complete listing of the performances as well as the 10 art exhibitions offered
through the Department of Art can be found at the college's Web site, www.finearts.sfasu.edu,
and in the season brochure, which is available through the box office.
Flynn encourages patrons to study the complete listing, determine which events
they'd like to attend and then call or visit the box office to place their orders.
"My staff and I are ready to help patrons plan their season and to make
sure they take advantage of any savings our various discounts offer," Flynn
said.
The box office is located in Room 211 of the Griffith Fine Arts Building. The
