Live auction will close SFA art exhibition
A reception and live auction Saturday, Sept. 11, will close the week-long
exhibition of works by Stephen F. Austin State University faculty,
alumni and graduate students at The Art Center, 329 E. Main Street.
The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. sponsored by Nacogdoches
Junior Forum. Admission is free.
"The show, 'Art Center Select,' got off to a great start last
Saturday," said Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director. "The
closing should be a lot of fun, and we encourage everyone to join us
as we raise money for the SFA Art Scholarship Fund.Ó
Most of the pieces included in the exhibition have been available for silent
auction bidding throughout the week.
"We have had great response to the bidding so far and are expecting even
more bids before the silent auction closes at 8:30 p.m. Saturday," said
Bailey. "After those winners are announced, we will begin the live auction
around 9 p.m."
Included in the live auction are works by SFA faculty Piero Fenci, Charlie Jones,
Robert Kinsell and Jennifer Sholtis and SFA alumni Holly Anderson, Renzo Barchi,
Mark Greenwalt, Corinne Jones and Mihailo Vukelic.
The exhibition and sale is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts
and the Department of Art. It is sponsored in part by Nacogdoches Junior Forum,
SFA Friends of the Arts and SFAÕs Student Government Association.
