'Graduate Student Exhibition' opens
"This exciting exhibition by a talented group of artists is an eclectic mixture of art," said Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director. "Visitors will view paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, collages, mixed media, photography, prints and jewelry. Included in the exhibition are paintings and drawings by Mary Coronis, Las Cruces, N.M.; Lyndon Crowson, Houston; Dan Grissom, Jena, La.; Kent Land, Nacogdoches; Jocelyn Powell, Savannah, Ga.; Tamara Smith, Houston; and Howard Solomon, Marshall. Also included are ceramics and sculptures by Dawn Chatoney, Austin; Robert Davis, Dallas; Laura Robertson, Jewett; Adan Saenz, Chihuahua, Mexico; and Renee Wilcox, San Antonio. Students entering mixed media works include Clint Alexander, Leggett; Jenny Bigham, Snyder; Angelle Caffery, New Orleans, La.; Kylie Cantwell, Austin; Leslie Magdaleno, Houston; and Garfield Morgan, Kingston, Jamaica. Photography by Jan Anderson-Paxson, Lufkin; a collage by Roger Callaway. Shreveport; a lithographic book by Richard Carnley, Lufkin; and prints by Michael Scott Olson, Nacogdoches; will also be on display. Emily Sloan Alexander, Diboll, and Ashley Whitson, Fairfield, will have paintings and sculptures in the show. Also on display will be a painting and collage by Adam Back, Houston; jewelry and painting by Rima Drake, Humble; and painting and mixed media by Amanda Watts, Tyler. The exhibition, which runs through Sunday, Dec. 11, is sponsored in part by Nacogdoches Junior Forum, Texas Commission on the Arts and SFA Friends of the Arts.
