Halloween events planned at SFA, Stone Fort Museum

Several events planned at Stephen F. Austin State University promise a fun fright for guests of all ages.

The Residence Hall Association will hold its Fall Festival 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. The event will include free events including ring toss, fishing games, balloon typhoon moonwalk, pumpkin carving and face painting. A costume contest will be held at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a bake sale to raise money for programs for apartment residents.

The events will take place on the Horseshoe Drive on Clark Boulevard on the SFA campus.

On Monday, Oct. 31, the second annual Stone Fort Museum ÒHistory Was Never ScarierÓ Halloween festival and exhibit will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the museum. Festivities will include face painting, fortune telling, story telling, hay rides and carnival games. A costume contest for people under age of 18 and dogs will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Most events will be free of charge. Other events, like the hayride, will require one or more tickets, which can be purchased at the museum for 25 cents.

A photographic exhibit titled ÒA Grave Experience: Community Cemeteries of Nacogdoches County,Ó will be featured inside the museum. SFA professor of art Christopher Talbot will curate the exhibit, which features work by students from the SFA art department and continues through Nov. 22.

Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
