Regents approve employment changes
Appointments to the Nelson Rusche College of Business included Dr. Minho Park, visiting assistant professor of computer science; Jason Powell, lecturer of computer science; and Kelly Noe, lecturer of accounting. In the College of Education, the following appointments were approved: Dr. Neill Armstrong, assistant professor of secondary education; Dr. Kenneth Austin, assistant professor of secondary education and educational leadership; Dr. Kris Bills, lecturer of elementary education; John Donihoo, instructor of elementary education; and Jarod Lambert, visiting assistant professor of secondary education. Appointments in the College of Fine Arts included Dr. Christina Guenther, visiting assistant professor of music, and Jeff Schultz, instructor of music. Faculty in the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture will include Daniel Scognamillo, assistant professor of wildlife management, and Dr. D. Matthew Ramsey will serve as assistant professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts. Appointments to the College of Science and Mathematics include Hilary Dosser and Amanda Whisenant, lecturers of mathematics and statistics; David McCann, clinical instructor of nursing; and Dr. Rose Powell, assistant professor of nursing. Staff appointments with the athletic department included Jenifer Wells, head softball coach; Fred Gillum, assistant softball coach; Brian Yale, assistant volleyball coach and instructor; Johnny Cardenas, assistant baseball coach; Christopher Connally, assistant baseball coach; and Brian Ross, assistant sports information director. Other appointments included Tamela D. Kimbro, accountant; Anne Uhyrek, bursar; Nicole Preston, counselor; Cody Betts, beef farm supervisor; Brian Tarpley, instructional systems administrator; Reginald Gossett, assistant manager library systems; and Merry Shelton and Janice Haile, registered nurses. Changes in employment status approved by the regents included Dr. Marlin Young, from associate provost/vice president for academic affairs to interim vice president for business affairs; William Bobo, from lecturer in kinesiology to athletic trainer; Jennifer Wiggins, from student intern manager in agriculture to assistant equestrian coach; Amanda Went, from intern coach in women's basketball to assistant women's basketball coach and instructor of kinesiology; James Dixon, from assistant director of sports information to director of sports information; Robert Meyers, from director of sports information to assistant director of athletics for business; Matthew Fenley, from assistant director of athletics for compliance and student services to associate director of athletics for compliance and student services ; Tred Riggs, from GIS System administrator to geospatial application specialist; David Barfield, from project GIS specialist to geospatial trainer; Dr. John H. Miller, from physician to director of health services; Sandra J. Turner, from manager of instructional technology systems to associate director of institutional research; Bryan Bradbury, from graduate assistant to intramural supervisor; Dr. Christine McDermott from lecturer of English and philosophy to assistant professor of English and philosophy; Matthew Partridge, from lecturer to American English Language Institute director; Ronald Havner, from adjunct science and mathematics faculty to lab coordinator, Michael Hitchcock, from adjunct faculty to lab coordinator; and William Godwin, from adjunct faculty to project director. Retirements approved by regents included Betty L. Ford, alumni affairs; Steve McCarty, athletic director; Dr. Robert Eanes, health clinic director; Barbara A. Bahs, registered nurse; Dr. Nancy Wisely, associate professor of sociology; and Dr. Kenneth Price, associate professor of mathematics and statistics. A leave of absence of one year was approved for Dr. Jerry Tyler, assistant professor of sociology, who has been offered a one-year position with the U.S. Department of State.
