Parking garage dedicated

Fred Wulf, chair of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents, takes fellow regents Kenneth James and Paul Pond, along with SFA president Dr. Tito Guerrero, on a driving tour of a new $5.5 million, 402-space parking garage at the university. The garage grand opening was celebrated Wednesday during a ribbon cutting ceremony held in conjunction with a meeting of the board, during which regents authorized the sale of up to $59 million in revenue bonds to build a 610-bed, four-building student housing complex, a 750-space parking garage and a Student Recreation Center. The projects and the newly dedicated parking garage are part of $168 million in campus construction that recently has been completed or is being built or designed. Also pictured are, from left, Dr. Margarita de la Garza Grahm, SFA regent from Tyler; Dr. Marlin Young, SFA associate provost and interim vice president for business affairs; Dr. Baker Pattillo, vice president for university affairs; and SFA regents Melvin White of Pflugerville, Richard Boyer of The Colony and James Thompson of Sugarland.
