Ribbon cutting to be held for SFA parking garage

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, for the first of three parking garages on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus. The garage, which was completed Aug. 23, is located just south of the University Center.

Parking for a portion of the south end of Vista Drive will not be available Wednesday in order to prepare for the ceremony, which will include a performance by members of the Lumberjack Marching Band.

The ribbon cutting is being held in conjunction with meetings of the SFA Board of Regents. The Building and Grounds Committee will meet at 9 a.m., and the Finance Committee meets at 10:30 a.m. An executive session will be held in the afternoon.

The board will meet in regular session beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 20.

Approximately $168 million in new capital construction recently has been completed at SFA or is being finished or designed. The second parking garage, located at the corner of Raguet and East College streets, is scheduled for completion in January 2006.
