University offering Creative Saturday art workshop

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are now being accepted for Creative Saturday, an art workshop for children ages 5 through 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at The Art Center, 329 E. Main Street. The workshop is offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art.

Master teachers will teach age-appropriate lessons with the assistance of SFA art education students. Parents are welcome to observe the class.

The watercolor and oil pastel artwork that the children create will be on display on the second floor of The Art Center Friday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 18.

Parents may register their children by calling Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director, at (936) 468-1131 or e-mailing Marsha Blount, SFA adjunct faculty, at blountmarsh@sfasu.edu. Registrations will also be accepted on the afternoon of the event, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The workshop is limited to 20 participants.

The $5 registration fee includes supplies and snacks.
