Jazz concert slated at SFA
Under the direction of Deb Scott, SFA assistant professor of music, the Swingin' Aces will perform John Higgins' arrangement of "Johnny's Theme" from "The Tonight Show," Frank Mantooth's arrangement of "On Green Dolphin Street" and "Night Sky" by Jeff Jarvis. Scott will be the featured vocalist on Mark Taylor's arrangement of "No More Blues" by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Featured musicians on the Swingin' Axes' program will be vocalist Valencia Edner, instructor at Angelina College, and clarinetist Tom Houston, SFA associate professor of music, on Benny Goodman's "Let's Dance." Also included on the Axes' program are "St. Louis Blues, " "In a Mellow Tone" and "Chameleon." The Swingin' Axes are directed by Gary Wurtz, SFA assistant professor of music.
