Freshman dies in Sunday car accident


NACOGDOCHES-Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday in Austin for a 19-year-old Stephen F. Austin State University freshman who was killed Sunday in a car accident near Crockett.

The accident that took the life of Brittany Kathleen Nabors of Austin, a freshman dance major, occurred 16 miles east of Crockett on Highway 21 about 3 p.m. Sunday, according to Callaway-Alley Funeral Home in Crockett.

Nabors was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and lived in Kerr Hall at SFA. She was a 2005 graduate of James Bowie High School and a three-year member of the Silver Stars Drill Team.

Services for Nabors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverbend Church Fellowship Hall, 4214 N. Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360), Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zeta Tau Alpha Philanthropic Charity, or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265-0309.

Among Nabor's survivors are her parents, Rick and Jill Nabors of Austin; a brother, Brett Garrett Nabors of Dallas; and a grandmother, Joyce Hauke of Midland, according to Harrell Funeral Home of Austin, which is charge of arrangements.
