Community members invited to sing 'Messiah'

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations for participation in the community-wide presentation of Georg Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, are now being accepted through the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music.

The school has a long history of presenting Handel's masterpiece during December, said Dr. Tim King, SFA professor of music and director of choral activities. "We invite singers from around the area to join their voices with the SFA combined choirs to once again ring in the holiday season."

Music can be purchased at the University Center Bookstore, and King said practice compact discs are available to help people learn their parts.

The entire choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, in Room 125 of the Wright Music Building and at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

Once registered, vocalists will receive a packet of information on required music and details about the rehearsals and performance.
