'The Russian School of Piano Playing'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Krassimira Jordan will present a guest piano recital, lecture and master class of Stephen F. Austin State University piano students from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Cole Concert Hall. The event, which is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music, is free and open to the public.

Jordan, an artist-in-residence and professor of piano at Baylor University, will present "The Russian School of Piano Playing."

The Bulgarian native began her formative musical training at age four and made her recital debut when she was seven. During her years of study in Sofia, Vienna and Moscow, she won several international piano competitions.

Before joining the Baylor faculty, she was professor of piano at the world-renowned Vienna Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts from 1979 to 1989. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in March 1989.

Jordan has appeared as a recitalist and orchestral soloist in Russia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, Mexico and the United States.

Each June, she teaches a select group of pianists and teacher-observers accepted to the Bšsendorfer International Piano Academy in Vienna.
