Guest jazz duo recital

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Trombonist Brian Allen and bassist Reuben Radding will present a guest jazz duo recital at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in Cole Concert Hall. The recital is a joint presentation of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music. It is free and open to the public.

The duo will play improvised music that draws on their diverse musical influences, including jazz, punk, classical, pop and klezmer.

Dr. Debra Scott, SFA assistant professor of music, said she invited Allen and Radding to campus so that jazz students could hear contemporary and experimental jazz and composition students could be exposed to different composing ideas and media.

At 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, the duo will give a master class on improvising to SFA jazz students in Room 170 of the Wright Music Building. The class is open to the public.
