Corrine Jones exhibition to open

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will open "Corrine Jones: Earth Drawings" on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Griffith Gallery located in Room 208 of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

The exhibition opens with a talk by Jones at 6 p.m., followed by a reception.

The pieces in the show are all drawings on paper using charcoal, colored pastels and different soils, as well as collaged materials. The mixed media works explore the natural process of nature itself and how meaning takes on physical form.

Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director, said she is pleased to include a local East Texas artist on the SFA Gallery Series.

Jones teaches foundation classes in drawing and design at Angelina College and received her Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from SFA. Since 1995, she has been affiliated with Chandler Fine Arts Gallery in San Francisco.

The show runs through Sunday, Dec. 11. Regular gallery hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
