C—nsul general of Mexico to speak at SFA graduation
Garc’a de Alba has served at the Mexican Consulate in Dallas since January 2004 with jurisdiction over North Texas, the panhandle and Arkansas. He joined the Foreign Service of Mexico in 1987 and currently holds the rank of minister. He previously served as chief comptroller of MexicoÕs Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources and as MexicoÕs trade commissioner at the embassy in Rome, Italy. Garc’a de Alba graduated from the Universidad Aut—noma Metropolitana with a degree in economics and earned a masterÕs degree in political science and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Rome. He was an Italian Ministers Council scholar. Garc’a de Alba has more than 15 years experience as a professor in various fields at the University of Perugia, Italy, the University del Valle de Mˇxico, the Iberoamerica University, the University of Guadalajara, the University of the Americas and the Instituto Tecnol—gico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente. An author of more than 50 books, essays and articles on topics including foreign policy, youth, and environmental and agricultural economy, Garc’a de Alba's work has been published in magazines and newspapers in Mexico and abroad. More than 1,100 students will graduate from SFA, with 873 candidates for bachelor's degree, 229 candidates for master's degree and eight doctoral degree candidates. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m.
