SFA offering show choir camp

Registration is now open for two sessions of Showstoppers Choir Camp offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division. The first session will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., May 31 through June 4, and the second session will be from 1 to 4 p.m., June 7 through 11.

The camps, which are open to first through eighth grade students interested in performance through singing and staged movement, will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 502 E. Starr Avenue.

Glen Miller, co-director of the SFA Showstoppers Show Choir and music teacher at Lufkin Slack Elementary School, will direct the camps.

“We will offer a week of exciting performance training, culminating in a performance and party for parents, family and friends the last 30 minutes of the Friday sessions,” said Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division.

Enrollment is limited, and students will be registered on a first come, first serve basis, Barnett said. The $65 registration cost includes a $20 materials fee. Registration forms are available in the SFA Department of Music Office, Room 150, in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building. The deadline to register is Friday, May 14.
