Beginning their first two-year term as board members will be Ab and Hazel Abernethy, Jane Childress, Danny Gallant, Francesca Kunk, Suzie Lower and Laura Treadaway. Mark and Connie Aucoin will serve a second two-year term.

Carolyn Andrews, Carrie Christian, Stan Cook, Mary Cooper, Dennis Fleetwood, Brenda Josephsen, Dr. Janice Ledet, Brinda McClain, Gary Parker, Kelly Summers, Terri Thompson-Sayler, Carrie Ventura and Gregg and Dora Fuselier will return as second-year board members.

The board’s officers, all of whom are serving a second year, are Leslie Enright, president; Christie Cook, vice-president; and Brenda Fleetwood, secretary.

Serving as ex-officio board members are Dr. Ron Anderson, chair of the SFA Department of Music; Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division; and Shirley Watterston, senior advisor and founder.

Each semester, the Music Preparatory Division of the SFA Department of Music serves approximately 250 area children, ages newborn to 18, through private lessons, musicianship classes and performance opportunities.

According to Barnett, the Advisory Board is an integral part of the program.

“Their support and advice are vital to its success,” Barnett said. “They are especially helpful with raising funds for scholarships so that more students can receive the ‘gift of music.’”

Donations to the scholarship program may be sent to the SFA Music Preparatory Division, Box 13043, SFA Station, Nacogdoches, TX 75962. For more information, please call (936) 468-1291.
