SFA Music Preparatory recitals set


The Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division will present a series of recitals in May, showcasing the students enrolled in piano, voice, choral ensemble and string classes. The recitals are free and open to the public.

Students of Linda Parr will present two different recitals in Cole Concert Hall. Students will perform traditional pieces at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8, and at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, they will present “May Madness,” featuring piano duos and duets with guest instrumentalists and vocalists.

On Sunday, May 9, students of Mary Cooper will present their recital at 2 p.m., and students of Dr. Ping-Ting Lan, Kae Hosoda-Ayer and James Fausett will perform at 4:30 p.m. Both recitals will be in Cole Concert Hall.

Piano students of Rene Freeman, Susie Littleton and Joni Pollard will present their recital at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, in the Music Recital Hall.

At 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10, the Live-Wire and SFA Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Kim Dean, and the SFA Showstoppers, directed by Glenn and Sharon Miller, will present their end-of-the-year recital in Cole Concert Hall.

Also on Monday, May 10, violin and cello students of Dr. Jennifer Dalmas, Dr. Evgeni Raychev, Tyler Crayton and Cordell Taylor will perform at 7 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

Voice students of Dr. Deborah Dalton, Jena Grafton and Ryan McDonald will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 13, and Suzuki violin students of Brenda Josephsen will present their recital at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Both recitals will be in the Music Recital Hall.

Jordan Yerkes, a piano student of Linda Parr who will be entering SFA in the fall, will present his senior recital at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in Cole Concert Hall. He will be playing works by Bach, Beethoven, Schumann and Chopin.
