Hosoda-Ayer featured in festival concert
Kae Hosoda-Ayer, piano instructor for the Stephen
F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division, will be featured
during the Piano with Strings Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 23,
in Cole Concert Hall. The concert is part of SFA’s annual Chamber
Music in the Pines Festival.
Performing with Hosoda-Ayer will be SFA music faculty members Jennifer
Dalmas and Evgeni Raychev, on violin and cello respectively; Meredith
Maddox, violinist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra; and David Hermann,
associate principal viola with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Included on the program are Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Piano
Quartet” and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Piano Trio in D
minor.
A native of Hiroshima, Japan, Hosoda-Ayer earned her bachelor’s
degree from the Tôhô Gakuen School in Tokyo and her master’s
degree and performer’s diploma from the New England Conservatory
of Music, where she also served on the accompanying faculty.
She has concertized throughout the United States and Japan as a soloist
and accompanist. She has performed with Randolph Bowman, principal flute
of the Cincinnati Symphony; Keisuke Wakao, assistant principal oboe
with the Boston Symphony; and has been heard on public radio with Ronald
de Kant, professor of clarinet at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music.
The Chamber Music in the Pines Festival will conclude with an all-Bach
concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, during which Hosoda-Ayer will
play the harpsichord.
The festival is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts
and the Department of Music. It is sponsored in part by Ed and Gwen
Cole.
Tickets for each concert are $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and $5
for students and children.
