Registration open for SFA Music Preparatory instruction
The Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division is
now accepting registrations and scholarship applications for private
lessons and group classes that will begin in late August.
Students may register for weekly private lessons in piano, harp, Suzuki
violin, traditional violin, cello, classical guitar, percussion, flute
and voice. Lessons will begin the week of Aug. 23 and culminate with
recitals in December.
Group instruction is available through the Kindermusik programs for
newborns through age 5, Suzuki violin for ages 3 and older, and musicianship
classes for beginning and intermediate piano students.
Partial tuition scholarships are awarded to assist students in tuition
payments. Application forms are available in the SFA Department of Music
office, Room 150 of the Wright Music Building. Forms may also be downloaded
from www.music.sfasu.edu. Deadline for scholarship applications is Monday,
Aug. 2.
New students may register and meet with teachers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
on Saturday, Aug. 7, or Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the lounge area of the
Wright Music Building.
“We request that new students accompany their parents to these
registration periods, if at all possible,” said Barnett. “If
the child is present, we can better assess which program or level of
musicianship is the most appropriate for the child.”
