SFA A Cappella Choir presents Homecoming Concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS- The Stephen F. Austin State University A Cappella Choir will present its Homecoming Concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, in Cole Concert Hall. The concert concludes the choir's annual spring tour.
"Each year the A Cappella Choir travels to various areas in Texas, performing at high schools and community colleges," said Dr. Tim King, SFA director of choral activities and the choir's director.
This year, the choir visited Waco, Temple, Killeen, College Station, Bryan and Lufkin.
"Our tour is very important for the university's outreach," explained King. "And the schools and directors which we visit appreciate the opportunity to hear mature singers perform quality literature."
The program includes traditional choral music such as "Hosanna" by David Dickau and "Magnificat" by Arvo Part, folksongs such as "I'm Seventeen Come Sunday" and "Marianne," and spirituals such as "Let Me Fly."
The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and the Department of Music. Tickets are "$5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.
