SFA art department sponsoring museum trip


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Art is sponsoring a day trip to Fort Worth art museums Friday, March 4. The trip is open to the public and costs $20 per person.

The group will leave on a chartered bus at 7:30 a.m. and travel to Fort Worth's museum district. The first stop will be the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, which is currently featuring the "Dan Flavin Retrospective."

Participants are then free to visit the Amon Carter and the Kimbell Art museums, both of which are within walking distance of the Modern Art Museum. The bus will leave the museum area at 5 p.m.

Meals are not included in the cost of the trip. For the noon meal group members can either bring their own lunch or eat at the cafˇs located in the Kimbell or Modern Art museums. The group will dine at the Salouis Stage Deli Bar in Fort Worth.

The bus will leave Fort Worth at 6:15 p.m.

"We are happy to make this trip available for the East Texas community," said Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director. "Since seating is limited, participation is based on a first come, first served basis.".
