Nacogdoches County Judge to speak at Chamber luncheon


Nacogdoches County Judge Sue Kennedy will be the speaker for the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon on Feb. 25 at the Fredonia Hotel.

Kennedy has served as county judge since January 1999. She serves on the I-69 Alliance board of directors and on the Texas Association of Counties Policy Analysis Group. She is a member of the Pineywoods Economic Partnership board, the Stephen F. Austin State University Certified Public Management Program advisory board and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality small business advisory committee.

In 2003 Kennedy received the John Ben Shepherd Public Leadership Institute Outstanding Local Leader Award, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity CommissionÕs Women Leaders in Texas award and the Texas Association of County Commissioners and JudgesÕ 1st Texas Courthouse Community Award. She received the Silver Spur Award from the Texas Association of Counties Leadership Institute in 2004.

Kennedy graduated from high school in Lake Park, Iowa, and has attended Iowa Lakes Community College, Iowa State University, the University of Texas at Tyler and Stephen F. Austin State University. She served for four years in the U.S. Army and was a distinguished honors graduate in health sciences.
