Hutchison to hold book signing
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, U.S. senator from Texas, will visit Nacogdoches on Wednesday, Feb. 23, for a book signing featuring her new book, "American Heroines: The Spirited Women Who Shaped Our Country," published by HarperCollins.
Hutchison will be available in the lobby of Hotel Fredonia beginning at 1:45 p.m. to autograph copies of her book, which includes Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, and Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Contemporary leaders such as Condoleeza Rice, Geraldine Ferrero, Barbara Walters and Sally Ride are included.
Hutchison grew up in Lamarque, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas. She served in the Texas legislature and as Texas state treasurer before being elected to the United States Senate.
Copies of "American Heroines" will be available for purchase at the event. The book signing is sponsored by the East Texas Historical Association.
