SFA students invited to take part in business summit

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - SFA students and local business owners will have the opportunity to "talk shop" at the SFA-Chamber Connection Business Summit to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, in the UC Spirit Lounge on the SFA campus.

The summit's purpose is to allow students to voice their opinions and ask questions concerning the products and services provided by Nacogdoches businesses and inquire about job opportunities in the area.

The event also will allow business representatives to find out how they can better serve and inform students and how they can successfully market their products and services.

According to D'nese Haddox, SFA Business Summit co-chair, the summit is one way students and the business community can work together.

"The summit will give area merchants and SFA students the opportunity to come together in an open forum and discuss issues that both parties deem significant," Haddox said. "So far, 21 businesses have signed up to participate. We expect to have representatives on hand ranging from retail to banking."

Admission is free, and door prizes will be awarded.

The SFA-Chamber Connection is a collaboration of representatives from SFA and the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce who work together to strengthen relations between the university and the community.
