SFA awarded SBC Excelerator grant

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Agriculture has been awarded a $5,000 SBC Excelerator grant to support the development of Web-based distance education courses. The courses are part of a program that will allow Tyler Junior College agriculture students to complete a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from SFA via online advanced-level courses. The grant targets non-traditional students who, because of limited resources, job constraints and other issues, find it impractical, if not impossible, to transfer to a four-year institution. Pictured, from left, are Dr. Jerry Holbert, vice president for university advancement; Dr. Dale Perritt, chair, Department of Agriculture; Dr. Leon Young, SFA agriculture professor; Skip Ogle, director, SBC external affairs; and State Rep. Roy Blake Jr.
