Four horticulture students from Stephen F. Austin State University competed in the J.B. Storey Undergraduate Horticulture judging competition held recently in Tulsa, Okla., during the Southern Region conference of the American Society for Horticultural Science. Twenty-seven students from eight universities participated in the judging competition, including SFA students, from left, Taylor Maxwell, Midland junior; Trey Anderson, Nacogdoches junior; Whitney Milberger, Bay City senior; and Andrew King, Tenaha junior. King was the overall high-scoring individual, placing first in the greenhouse floral and foliage plants judging and second in woody ornamental identification competition. Milberger garnered a third place individual award in the vegetable judging division. Dr. David Creech, professor of agriculture, serves as adviser to the team.
