SFA Sponsoring Art Tour Dallas

Spaces are still available for the Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Art’s Art Tour Dallas trip Saturday, Feb. 21. Participants will travel by bus to visit the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center.

The featured exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art is "Passion for Art:

100 Treasures 100 Years." In celebration of the museum’s centennial, curators have chosen 100 artworks from the museum’s collection to highlight defining moments in the museum’s history.

The Nasher Sculpture Center, which opened in 2003, showcases a world-renowned collection of modern sculpture amassed by Raymond D. Nasher, real estate developer and philanthropist, according to Dr. Jill Carrington, associate professor of art history at SFA.

Bus tickets for the trip must be purchased in advance at the University Center Box Office or by calling (936) 468-5225. Tickets are $20 for students, $10 for students enrolled in Art History in fall ’03 or spring ’04, and $30 for non-students.

Participants will pay for their own lunch and admission to the exhibitions. By showing their student identification, students can get into the Dallas Museum of Art free and pay $8 for the special exhibition and $5 for the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Non-students will pay $6 for admission to the Dallas Museum of Art, and $10 each for the special exhibition and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Seniors, ages 65 and over, will pay $4 for admission to the museum, $8 for the special exhibition, and $7 for the Nasher Center.

Buses will depart the parking lot on the corner of Raguet and East College streets at 8 a.m. and return at 7:30 p.m. Participants may leave their vehicles in the lot.
