CPR classes offered to the community
The Stephen F. Austin State University Piney Woods Areas Health Education Center is offering a course to help the American Heart Association achieve its mission of reducing disability and death due to cardiovascular disease and stroke. All community members, especially those family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, are invited to attend Heartsaver training. This course teaches CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of choking. The course includes videotaped skills demonstration, practice scenarios, peer practice sessions and formal evaluation of knowledge of skills. The classes are offered twice a month. February classes will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the SFA Science Research Center, 7308 Hwy. 59 N.
