SFA Student Receives Advertising Award

Stephen F. Austin State University art major Andre McBride, senior from Houston, received two Gold Addy awards for his entries into the East Texas Advertising Federation Addy Show on Feb. 1 in Tyler. His award represents the highest student honor in the East Texas region.

“I am passionate about a career in advertising, and I work hard,” McBride said.

The award-winning projects include a poster design for the Texas Blueberry Festival, sponsored by the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, and a public service advertising campaign to help shelter the homeless.

In addition to the Addy awards, McBride received a cash prize and one of his entries will go to the District 10 advertising competition in Houston. Finalists in Houston are eligible for national recognition.

The awards are an annual competition sponsored by the American Advertising Federation to acknowledge and reward creative work in advertising.

Advertising professionals and students are invited to submit work.
