SFA jazz bands to present concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces, Stephen F.
Austin State University jazz bands, will present their final concert of the season at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, May 2, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.
Included on The Swingin' Aces' portion of the program will be arrangements of three jazz standards, "Satin
Doll," "Day In Day Out"
and "What Have They Done to My Song, Ma?" The group is directed by Deb Scott, SFA assistant
professor of music.
The Swingin' Axes, under the direction of Gary Wurtz, assistant professor of music, will perform songs by Count Basie, Buddy Rich and Oliver Nelson. Bassist Jeff Jacobsen, SFA assistant professor of music and director of orchestral studies, will be the featured soloist.
The concert is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
