SFA art board hosts studio visit

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University will host "Inside the Artist's Studio" at the studio of Robert Kinsell, SFA professor of art, on Saturday, April 29. The event is open to any members who have donated $200 or more to the SFA School of Art or the SFA Gallery Fund during 2006.

Participants will be served gourmet Texas Tapas in the garden and learn about the business of art from Kinsell, who has been working as a realist painter for more than 30 years.

Kinsell, a member of the SFA art faculty for 14 years, teaches drawing, design, painting, digital media and advertising design. His new exhibition, "Imposed Realties," will open on Saturday, April 22, at McMurtrey Gallery in Houston.

"Inside the Artist's Studio" is one of several events planned throughout the coming months as a thank you to donors. Ster Dubberly, events chairperson, explained that all contributions are cumulative.

"A patron's additional contributions could bring him up to the next gift level and make him eligible for more events," explained Dubberly.

For questions or more information, contact Dubberly at (936) 569-0797 or Shannon Bailey, SFA gallery director, at (936) 468-1131.

SFA students in Chay Runnel's convention and meeting class plan "Inside the Artist's Studio," an appreciation event to be hosted by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts on Saturday, April 29, at the studio of art professor Robert Kinsell. The event is open to donors who have contributed $200 or more in 2006 to the School of Art.
