Stem cell information to be presented at SFA Burr Lecture
Dr. Roger R. Markwald will present "Stem Cells: From Adam's Rib to Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine." Markwald also has served as the director of the Cardiovascular Developmental Biology Center at the university since 1992. He graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University and was named Alumnus of the Year in 1998. He earned a master's degree and doctorate from Colorado State University and completed postgraduate training at Medical University of South Carolina. Markwald teaches courses in medical and dental histology, cell biology and medical embryology. He received the Lyndon Baines Johnson Research Award presented annually by the Texas affiliate of the American Association for Outstanding Research in Cardiovascular Biology and has served as chair of the American Association of Anatomists strategic planning committee since 1991.
