Music in ancient Rome to be discussed at SFA


A presentation on music in ancient Rome will be presented by Dr. Timothy Moore, associate professor of classics at the University of Texas at Austin, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in Liberal Arts North Room 102 at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Moore holds degrees from Millersville University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also has taught at Harvard, Texas A&M, and the University of Colorado and has held several fellowships, including a Rome Prize Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship.

Moore has published books on the Roman authors Livy and Plautus, numerous articles on ancient Roman literature and a translation of one of Terence's plays. He currently is researching the role of music in ancient Roman comical theater.
