Slovak historian to speak at SFA
Csanyi and SFA faculty member Dr. Michael Tkacik met and worked together during Tkacik's trip to Slovakia as a Fulbright Scholar in 2004. "I think people will be interested in this talk given that Slovakia and other Central European states recently joined the European union and NATO, thus bringing these countries politically and economically closer to the United States," Tkacik said. Dr. Peter Csanyi earned master's degrees in history and in English, as well as a Ph.D. in history, from the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia, and has served as a faculty member in the university's Department of Political Science since October 2003. In 2004 Csanyi published eight articles on politics in Central Europe, with an emphasis on the European Union, democracy and globalization. ÊHe is fluent in Hungarian, Slovak and English, and also speaks and writes Russian. He is a member of the Slovak Association for Regional Policy and the Slovak Association for Foreign Policy. The public is invited to attend the presentation, and there is no admission charge. For more information, call 468-2605.
