SFA to conduct National Alcohol Screening Day Event

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The human services counseling and rehabilitation program at Stephen F. Austin State University will host an alcohol screening in conjunction with National Alcohol Screening Day. The screening will be held in the Human Services Bldg. lobby from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 7. Students in the Department of Human Services will facilitate screenings, provide feedback and distribute educational materials.

Upon completion and scoring of the one-page questionnaire, attendees may choose to meet with a clinician for interpretation and feedback. The questionnaire includes 10 items regarding amount and frequency of alcohol usage, alcohol dependency and problems caused by alcohol use. Screening participants will remain anonymous and may only want to complete the questionnaire portion. Additional information and snacks will be offered.

National Alcohol Screening Day is an annual event that raises community awareness and seeks to educate the public about alcohol-related disorders. For more information regarding National Alcohol Screening Day at SFA, contact the SFA Counseling Clinic at (936) 468-2906.
