Mood Disorder Expert To Speak at SFA

 

Mood Disorders will be the topic of the 22nd annual J.H. Burr Jr. Distinguished Lecture in Biology at 7 p.m. Monday, April 26, in the University Center Twilight Ballroom at Stephen F. Austin State University. A reception with refreshments will begin at 6 p.m. 

Michael L. Seng, M.D., will present “Mood Disorders: From Symptoms to Cells and Circuity.”

Seng grew up in rural northern Ohio and was an Eagle Scout. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State and a doctorate from Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He completed residencies in internal medicine and psychiatry at Cleveland Clinic. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Seng owns an outpatient psychiatric clinic in Lorain, Ohio, with a staff of 10 therapists. He has served as a speaker for Eli Lilly for 13 years and on the company’s medical advisory board for three years. Last year, Seng delivered more than 300 talks on depression, bipolar depression and attention deficit disorder.

Seng has served as staff psychiatric consultant for Town Crier, a cable television public service program, and as medical advisor to the Northeast Ohio Manic Depressive Support Group.
