FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Susan Hammons–April 12, 2004 (936) 468-2041
SFA students, businesses to get up close and personal at summit
Stephen F. Austin State University students have an opportunity to tell local business representatives exactly what they would like to see offered at Nacogdoches stores at an SFA-Business Summit 5:30-6:45 p.m. April 21. Students can express opinions and ask questions about products, services and employment in Nacogdoches at the summit in the Vera Dugas Liberal Arts North Building, Room 142, on the SFA campus. The event, co-sponsored by the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and the Student Government Association, is an initiative of SFA-Chamber Connection, a new chamber committee designed to address mutual interests of businesses and the university. The summit will provide a forum to explore such topics as how students can find products and services locally, how businesses can adapt hours of operation to students’ needs, and how students can find part- or full-time work. Students who complete a short questionnaire at the event will be eligible for a drawing for door prizes to include items from Belks Department Store, the House of Versailles, Giving Tree Cottage, Effective Teleservices Inc. and others. SFA-Chamber Connection student representatives who helped plan the summit include Niesha Small and Amber Lara. Matt Rocco, vice president of operations for Effective Teleservices, and Susan Hammons, SFA director of public affairs, are co-chairing the SFA-Chamber Connection. For more information about the summit, contact Hammons at 468-2605. -#-
