Being classified within one of the pre health professions program
areas is simply a declaration of intent to pursue professional training
following your undergraduate educations and allows management of student
advising. None of the
professional schools in Texas specify a required major so the student
is free to major in any field. However, if a student is contemplating
a change in major, they are strongly encouraged to consult with the
Pre-Health Professions Advisor in order to assure that the electives
they choose still allow them to apply to the professional school
of their choice. Since the professional schools frequently change
their specified prerequisites, frequent contact with the Pre-Health
Professions Programs office recommended.
