The name of this organization shall be Iota Epsilon Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha.
The purpose of this organization shall be to stimulate productive scholarship and intelligent interest in the subject of political science among students at Stephen F. Austin State University.
SECTION 1. Members of this chapter currently enrolled as students at Stephen F. Austin State University shall be designated as student members, with the following minimum qualifications for membership:
SECTION 3. Members of this chapter who are neither students nor faculty members, but who are persons of recognized ability and achievement in the field of political science, may be elected as honorary members. SECTION 4. Each member shall pay such initiation fees and annual dues as may be prescribed by a majority of those members present and voting and/or by proxy. Dues may be paid to the Secretary/Treasurer or to the Faculty Advisor.
The chapter officers shall be: President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer and Faculty Advisor(s).
SECTION 1. The President shall have general executive control of the chapter, preside at all meetings, and perform such other duties as usually pertain to this office. SECTION 2. The Vice-President shall aid the President in the performance of his or her duties and shall preside at all meetings in the absence of the President. SECTION 3. The Secretary/Treasurer shall conduct such chapter correspondence as may be necessary; upon the request of the President or Faculty Advisor, shall keep an accurate record of proceedings; upon the request of the President or Faculty Advisor, shall send notices to members of unpaid dues and other fees adopted by chapter membership. SECTION 4. The Faculty Advisor(s) shall confer with the officers in determining the policies of the organization.
SECTION 1. Election of the President shall be conducted at the last meeting of each spring semester and election of other officers shall be conducted at the first meeting of each fall semester; officers shall be elected by a majority of those members present and voting and/or by proxy. SECTION 2. The chapter, by majority vote of chapter members present and voting and/or by proxy, shall have the power to remove an officer for continued absence or failure to administer the duties of the office properly. SECTION 3. In the event of the resignation or removal of the President, the Vice-President shall assume the duties of President, and a special election shall be held to fill the vacancy of Vice-President. In the event of a resignation or removal of the Vice-President or Secretary/Treasurer, a special election shall be held to fill these vacancies. SECTION 4. Faculty Advisor(s) shall be selected by a majority vote of those chapter members present and voting and/or by proxy.
Meetings shall be held as determined by the President.
The constitution may be amended by a 2/3 majority vote of members present and voting and/or by proxy at a duly called meeting. Proposed amendments shall be presented at least one regular meeting prior to voting on them. Revised November 1999
